From the Alumni Office
Hello Saint Alums and Friends:
My hope is that you are all safe and well during this COVID pandemic. Special thanks to all essential workers at Siena and across our nation who continue going to work in person each day to keep our world moving.
As you might guess, this pandemic has brought with it many changes at Siena. In order to keep in touch, and offer continued value to our alums and friends, we have initiated some virtual programming that I would like to share with you:
- We have launched an Alumni (and friends) virtual book club. This no-cost club features discussion boards where you can chat with others about the current, member-selected read. Check it out and join us here: https://www.pbc.guru/shu.
- Another recent offering has been our SHU Alumni Consortium featuring a variety of informative webinars. These webinars take place at noon on various days, but If the webinar day/time doesn’t work into your schedule, you can watch any program you wish a day after its premier. I encourage you to look here to view both the upcoming and archived selection: https://alumlc.org/sienaheights.
- In June Siena launched the “Siena Shares” webinar series and featured our own SHU Head Football Coach Matt Kohn. Coach Kohn shared an insider view of what happens within our football program. His program was very well received, and we have since shared information from other Siena faculty and staff. Programs have included SHU-specific topics such as: online education, celebrating interns and transfer credits and how they apply toward your degree at SHU. More sessions are in the works, so stay tuned!
You may have heard the news concerning this year’s Homecoming. With all the uncertainty, we are opting for a virtual celebration. Your Alumni Board and I are working diligently to put together not only the weekend’s regular events, but a weeklong “Spirit Week” with much to enjoy. I will be sending out regular communication via email and will post updates to our SHU Homecoming website as events are determined. While we are disappointed in not being able to celebrate in person, we are excited that those of you who can’t make it due to travel or physical constraints can join us from the safety of your own residence.
If you haven’t received an email from us or aren’t a member of our Siena Heights University Alumni Facebook group, you may be missing out on something of interest. Please join or connect by sending me any updates relating to new emails, street address, phone number etc., so we can keep you informed of all virtual (and eventually in-person) events we offer.
