Hello Saint Alums and Friends:

Greetings from your Alumni Office and blessings to you during the upcoming holiday season.  While I miss the hustle and bustle of a typical year of SHU in-person events, I am grateful that we have been able to keep in touch and offer some gatherings.  It was wonderful to have many of you join us on campus for Homecoming in October.  That fabulous #SaintsPride was and is alive and well.  I know you will join me in thanking our Alumni Board and Saintly Supporters for volunteering to keep all events running smoothly.  Mark your calendars for next year’s homecoming taking place on September 30-October 2, 2022.

Last year we were not able to host our annual dinner theatre event, but we are moving forward with plans to bring it back this spring!  Mark your calendars for April 9, 2022 and make plans to join us for a delightful dinner and fabulous production of Big Fish.  As you know, we have incredibly talented students and staff who put these productions together and with the recent updates to our facilities, it promises to be a truly magical night.

Hello Saint Alums and Friends:

My hope is that you are all safe and well during this COVID pandemic. Special thanks to all essential workers at Siena and across our nation who continue going to work in person each day to keep our world moving.

As you might guess, this pandemic has brought with it many changes at Siena. In order to keep in touch, and offer continued value to our alums and friends, we have initiated some virtual programming that I would like to share with you:

  • We have launched an Alumni (and friends) virtual book club. This no-cost club features discussion boards where you can chat with others about the current, member-selected read. Check it out and join us here: https://www.pbc.guru/shu.
  • Another recent offering has been our SHU Alumni Consortium featuring a variety of informative webinars. These webinars take place at noon on various days, but If the webinar day/time doesn’t work into your schedule, you can watch any program you wish a day after its premier. I encourage you to look here to view both the upcoming and archived selection: https://alumlc.org/sienaheights.

Siena Legacy

Can you believe it? Siena will celebrate our Centennial during the upcoming academic year! It has been an honor and privilege to be a part of the Centennial Committee and work with other faculty, staff, alumni, and community supporters to help plan what will be 100 events for the 100th. Our theme is ‘Legacy’ and all I can say is “WOW,” when I think of all that I have learned already and all that I will learn going forward as we meet and talk with all of YOU who share in this Siena legacy.

I am looking forward to the upcoming year because it means I will be meeting and hearing about the impact Siena has had on so many of our alums and how they have taken those lessons out into our world creating their own legacy. As part of the celebration, we are hosting ‘SHU Legacy Lectures,’ featuring many of our alums who have agreed to come back and share their Siena memories and their journey after graduation. They will spend a day on campus speaking to classes, lunching with students, and then telling their story at a TED-X style talk in the evening.

Also of note happening this year at Homecoming is our All-Alumni Art Show where more than 25 alumni artists will have their work shown at locations on our campus, at INAI (at the Motherhouse), and at the Adrian Center for the Arts (a short drive from campus). This is sure to be one of many weekend highlights. I am sure you will share in my excitement to read Jennifer Hamlin Church’s centennial coffee table book that will provide us with a look back while we look forward.
